We too often hear "All we need is money, and everything will be fine." Experienced investors and entrepreneurs know that is not true. Money alone is rarely the difference between success and failure. More important than money is the right combination of people, product, technology, vision, drive, industry acumen, and relationships. If a business had all that in place, they wouldn't be “looking for money”…people would be looking to invest in them.

At Fulcrum, we are not driven by the concept of "funding." We are in the business of building businesses. We focus on incubation – a 360 degree view of an investment. We look at businesses and figure out how best to grow them or turn them around. To that end, we make our best efforts to bring together drivers of success that include the right set of entrepreneurial ideas, product and market strategies, business leaders, business alliances, and capital.

We are not angels or VCs. We don't take a look at a business and "write a check." Oftentimes, it turns out that a business doesn't even need a check (or at least not as big a check as they thought they did). But when they do, and we decide to back the business, we will only provide financing as part of an integrated package and strategy that includes an appropriate incubation phase, as well as capital. In every case, we invest not only with capital, but with time, resources, and an unwavering commitment to transform a company into a mature and thriving business that generates superior returns for both the entrepreneurs who work there and the investors.
